DBSPY is a debugging utility facilitating trace of Sybase and MS SQL Server client API invocations and database messages. It works with 16 and 32 bit Windows applications using DBLIB, CTLIB or SYBDB client libraries to communicate with a database server.

The client programs can be written in 3GL, like "C"or "C++" and call DBLIB, CTLIB or SYBDB API directly or they can be 4GL programs such as PowerBuilder or Visual Basic programs that communicate to database libraries indirectly, through the respective 4GL database layer.
DBSPY works with any client application and it does not require the source code for database API calls. Trace information includes function call parameters, including SQL queries.
The 32-bit edition of DBSPY is based on the proprietary technology developed by Kogosoft Corporation.
The 16-bit edition of DBSPY uses PROCHOOK.DLL written by James Finnegan and published in Microsoft Systems Journal (Vol. 9, No. 1), Copyright Miller Freeman, Inc. 1993. All rights reserved.
DBSPY is an MDI application with intuitive and powerful user Interface . Multiple tracing sheets can be opened at the same time. The program features list and detail view, precise timing, reports and logging.

A demo version of the program limits the number of functions that can be traced.
